Celebrating Mums of all sorts

We see each and every one of you and the amazing job you do, whether you are a Regular Mum, a Stay-at-home Mum, a Working Mum, a Single Mum, an Adoptive Mum, a New Mum, a Stepmum, a Grandmum, or Mum to a Furry Friend.

The importance of Mothers

Throughout history, mothers have been the primary caregivers, responsible for nurturing and raising children, as well as passing down cultural traditions, values, and knowledge to the next generation.

As primary educators, mothers teach children essential skills such as language, social norms, and practical life skills. They also serve as role models and emotional anchors for their families, providing love, support, and stability during times of joy and adversity.

Many mothers today juggle multiple roles, balancing career aspirations with the demands of parenthood and household responsibilities.

There’s a growing recognition of the importance of maternal mental health in child development and family well-being. Mothers are encouraged to prioritise self-care and seek support for their mental health needs.

Have you thought about befriending?

Everyone needs other people, but not everyone has someone.

If you need some maternal support or have some maternal love to give then befriending offers supportive, reliable relationships through volunteer befrienders to people who would otherwise be socially isolated. Around the UK, there are befriending projects which organise effective support for children and young people, families, people with mental ill-health, people with learning disabilities and older people, amongst many others.

How Optimal Health help those struggling to be Mums
