Ayurvedic medical tradition suggests tongue cleaning as an everyday part of your daily regime.
Gently clean your tongue. Gently clean associated organs and deep tissue.
The tongue has a direct connection to our body’s vital organs and reflects their health. Tongue scraping gently removes toxins from the tongue itself and stimulates gentle cleaning and healing of the associated organs and deep tissue.
When undigested food particles, bacteria, and dead cells, begin to accumulate the body will present with a white coating on the tongue, foul smelling breath, dental decay and gum disease, mental fog, confusion, overall sluggishness and/or weakness, body aches, constipation, and low appetite.
Benefits of Regular Tongue Cleaning:
Fresher Breath: The accumulation of bacteria and food particles on the tongue is one of the main causes of bad breath. Regular tongue cleaning can help remove these deposits, leaving your breath fresh and clean.
Improved Taste: The taste buds on your tongue can become clogged with bacteria and food debris, making it difficult to taste and enjoy your food. Cleaning your tongue regularly can help remove these obstructions, allowing you to enjoy the full flavour of your food.
Better Oral Health: Regular tongue cleaning also prevents dental ailments such as tooth decay, plaque formation, gum aliments and other teeth and gum pathologies.
Improved Digestion: The tongue plays a vital role in the digestion process, and a clean tongue can help remove bacteria and food particles that can interfere with this process.
How to use a tongue cleaner
Ideally, use a tongue cleaner on an empty stomach. Hold the two ends of the tongue cleaner in both hands, extend the tongue and place the tongue cleaner on the surface of the tongue, as far back as is comfortable. Gently pull the tongue cleaner forward to remove unwanted coating. Rinse the tongue cleaner and repeat as necessary, usually 3-5 times. Follow this with oil pulling or with a natural, chemical-free, antiseptic mouth wash.
Rinse and Repeat: After each scrape or brush, rinse the tool under running water to remove any debris. Repeat this process until you have cleaned the entire surface of your tongue.
Rinse Your Mouth: After cleaning your tongue, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water or mouthwash to remove any remaining debris.
Improve both oral hygiene and overall health.
Tongue cleaning is a simple and effective way to improve your oral hygiene and overall health. It can help reduce bad breath, improve taste, and prevent decay. By adding tongue cleaning to your daily oral hygiene routine, you can enjoy the far-reaching benefits of a clean and healthy mouth.
